(7-12 yrs.) Learn orienteering skills such as using a compass and reading maps and stars at night to find your way. Learn how to track animals and read the natural landscape around you to help you survive. Shelter building, fire building, guided nature hikes and engaging activities aid in our wilderness skills development. A $5 supply fee due to instructor first class.
(7-13 yrs.) Supplement your historical studies with a fun day of exploring, interpreting and making maps. Try your hand at orienteering, learn about different types of maps from around the world, and take home a personalized map of your life.
(8-Adult) Orienteering is the sport of navigation with map and compass. It's easy to learn, but always challenging. Participants learn how to use a compass, read a topographic map and navigate orienteering courses. Compass required.
(10-14 yrs.) Step into the wild with Baroody Outside, where kids with a passion for the outdoors will explore nature's wonders. Camp may include orienteering or hiking adventures. Once registered, download camp forms from website.
(9-13 yrs.) Develop new skills to explore the outdoors. Be prepared for many different outdoor activities including kayaking (when available), fishing, fire building, orienteering, geocaching, and learning how to safely explore nature. (6-11 yrs.) Join our naturalist for an outdoor adventure as campers learn about skills the early settlers needed to survive when Virginia was still a frontier country. Exciting challenges are included that develop problem-solving, orienteering and basic wilderness survival skills. Search for gold, dip candles, crank ice cream, and play pioneer games. (7-9 yrs.) Join Baroody Outside for a dynamic outdoor experience tailored for kids with a passion for exploring nature and the wild. Camp may include fishing, orienteering, hiking, creek exploration and climbing. Campers will be transported to various scenic spots, equipped with all necessary gear, and embark on a journey of self-discovery and skill development.
